Professor John Morton was God’s scientist
Emeritus Professor John Morton was a distinguished marine biologist, prolific writer, broadcaster, a supporter of conservation issues and a committed Christian. He published more than one hundred scientific papers and theological works, including:
Man, Science and God (1972)
Redeeming Creation (1984)
Christ, Creation and the Environment (1989)
Professor Morton had a long involvement in the Synods and governance of the Anglican Church in New Zealand and was a strong advocate for Creation Sunday in the Anglican calendar. Professor Morton was also a Lay Canon Emeritus of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Auckland. He died in Auckland in March, 2011.
The recently accessioned papers consist of a selection of annotated drafts and copies of lectures, papers and addresses which span many years. They complement an existing collection of his lectures on man and evolution, at ANG 161/2/13.
