A new addition to the archives is the Order of the Society of St. Francis papers
The Anglican Society of St Francis is a modern community that came into existence early last century and draws its inspiration from St. Francis of Assisi. The ideals of St Francis, who lived before the reformation of the Western Church, have been adapted within the Anglican tradition. The Third Order of the Society is comprised of laity and clergy who are known as Tertiaries.
We … are God’s singers to draw hearts upward. – St Francis of Assisi
The Archive consists of papers, publications and documents relating to the Third Order in New Zealand. The recent donation of material by Chaplain Michael Watson covers the period from 1964 to 1999 and includes audiotapes and three crucifixes of the Order.
